Classroom DisciplineClassDojo is a web based program which allows teachers to track students’ behaviors (positive AND negative) easily and efficiently. The program is based on points, and students can be given positive points for things like being on task, being respectful, participating, or working hard. On the other hand, points can be taken away if students are off task, talking out, or unprepared.
After students have been added to the system, there is a student access code I will give to each student so that they can log on to the website. On the site, they are able to see how many points they have, which positive behaviors were noted, and which negative behaviors they need to work on. Students will be able to 'cash in' their dojo points for prizes in the classroom. There will also be class rewards for their overall percentage. One of the greatest features of ClassDojo is that it allows parents access to their child's account. All you need to do is use the parent access code to get signed up. Our hope is that this will help you better understand the progress of your student’s behavior on a week-to-week basis. |
HomeworkHomework will be expected to be done at the due date. All questions should be answered completely and math homework must show work. If it is not completely finished, it will be counted as incomplete. I do allow one free 'missed homework' per grading period. After that, there will be a consequence. If your child does not turn in an assignment, they must fill out a missing homework form. This will be brought home and you must sign it. The form and the homework must be returned the next day, signed.
Consequences:
Sickness: If your child is absent, I suggest that you have the homework sent home so they do not fall behind. Homework can also be picked up in the office until 4. If this is not possible, your child will have one day to complete the homework and return it. |
Agenda Books
Each student will have an agenda and will be responsible for writing their homework or reminders down each day. When I write homework on the board that is the appropriate time for them to write it down as well. Each student MUST have their agenda signed each night (even on Friday) This shows me that you are aware of what is happening in the classroom. Students who do not have their agenda signed 2 days in a row will receive 5 minutes off their recess. Also, each day the agenda is not signed, they will lose 1 Class Dojo point.

Classroom Technology
With so much innovative technology available and utilized in the world today, I feel it is important to integrate what I can into classes to help prepare students for their futures. Students need to understand how to use different tools to get the information they need, and then determine how best to present it. Our students are coming to us with expansive knowledge regarding technology. Some of them know more about it than us! It is for these reasons that I have decided to embrace technology as tools to increase student engagement.
I do allow students to use some of these devices at school. While I am excited that students are using new technology to nurture their love of learning, I do have some rules for the appropriate use of them. Examples of these types of technology include tablets, cell phones, and e-readers. |
Rules for using technological devices:
1. I, nor William Tell Elementary School, is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items. If you bring something to school, it is your responsibility to care for it.
2. Each student is responsible for his/her own technology and is not allowed to lend it to another student while at school.
3. Devices can be used in class only when I give the student permission. If a student is using it at an inappropriate time,or was using the device inappropriately Mrs. Kreilein may confiscate it and leave it in the office for the student to pick up after school.
5. Students should not leave their devices at school. They should take them home each day.
6. Devices can only be used in the classrooms. They should not be taken outside during recess, used in the morning while waiting for school to start, or used while waiting in dismissal lines.
7. The privilege to use these technologies can be revoked at any time.
